The idea of having a dry cleaning and tailor in the same location is not new.  In fact their are hundreds in a city like Manhattan.  Creating and environment with these and more services as a storefront on Madison Ave. was.  The inspiration was more of a large and personal upscale boutique fitting room. 

Patron's dry cleaning was now veiled by floor to ceiling linen drapery panels only revealed when you picked up the clothing. 

No longer were the seamstress/tailor sitting in a sewing machine among dust and thread spools up against a storefront window. They would now be sitting behind a walnut enclosed concierge type desk personally lit with stylish lamps and looking proud while showing off their craft

...and they still had the most coveted seat with the view of street life.
