Living in the "Hills" in Los Angeles has its perks...you get to live among the clouds that make for dreams.
For a couple and a new born baby this means they get to enjoy what most living there take for granted. The sky alone turns into a technicolor light show penetrating homes on a daily basis. Natural light enhancing four levels of terraces and rooms that never boor its audience.
My task was to mix vintage 40's, 50s, 60s with custom contemporary furnishings and create colorful environments while representing a young view of living today. By appreciating design without what todays "Style over function state of affairs which has come to dominate our insecure, status-and-image-conscious society to the point of neurosis" as written by a friend about interior design and how we live, this family lives the dream without loosing their footing among those luring clouds. Refreshing.
On first arrival and front door, the first level includes three terraces, fruit trees, herbs, abundance of succulents and stairs leading down through a vertical field of lavender to the next level sitting sectional and fire pit. The interior level consist of living room, dining, kitchen, guest rooms and outdoor terrace that serves as a morning coffee destination with a view of downtown LA and Lake Hollywood.
..let's not forget the Hollywood sign seen from a rear perspective most never appreciate.
Next level down unveils the family room, master suite, secondary dining area and access to a built-in grilling and lounging terrace.
We are excited to soon show more rooms and a renderings of a future pool that just might dominate the unobstructed view of those mentioned technicolor skies.
