PIED-A-TERRE
UPPER EAST SDIE. NYC
INTERIOR DESIGN. CUSTOM LIGHTING
A wonderful small home with the most incredible South exposure. The light is magnificent coming in from the South! As in many modestly small homes one needs to sometimes divide rooms in a creative way. Waited metal mesh fabric panels on a track system divide the dining space from the kitchen. As in most natural fibers, light penetrates and in this case the southern afternoon rays filter into the cooking area.
To expand on the room division theme, color metal mesh fabric divides the dining from the sitting room with an almost dream like gauze affect. A custom ceiling light fixture adds an element of rectangular sculpture while hiding the light source. During the day, shadows are created on the ceiling the same way a garden sculpture sun dial creates shadows indicating time.
